Are ASDA Egg Noodles worth buying?

I recently picked up a pack of ASDA egg noodles during my weekly shop, looking for something quick and easy for those busy weeknight dinners. Here’s how it went:

Cooking Experience:

I decided to throw these into a stir-fry with some veggies and chicken. The noodles cooked in a couple of minutes as advertised, which was super convenient. However, I did notice they clump together quite easily, so I had to keep stirring to separate them. After about 30 seconds they did fully separate and cooked perfectly.

Taste and Texture:

Once mixed in with my stir-fry sauce and ingredients, the noodles absorbed the flavours well, which was a plus. However, on their own, they have a bit of that typical egg noodle taste but with a somewhat artificial undertone that I wasn’t entirely thrilled about but lets be honest these are for cooking in with other items and not meant to be eaten plain. Texture-wise, they were okay and tasted pretty good for a quid. I’ve had better, but for the price point, these were very acceptable.

Overall

For convenience, ASDA egg noodles score high. They’re definitely a go-to for a quick meal. However, if you’re particular about the authenticity of taste or texture, you might find them a bit lacking. They work well in dishes where the noodles aren’t the star but rather a vehicle for other flavours. I’ll probably keep buying them for those emergency dinners, but for a special meal, I might opt for something with a bit more quality.

Pros

  • Great for quick dinners
  • Cheap
  • Taste OK

Cons

  • Better egg noodles on the market
