I must say, I’ve always been a bit of a sausage aficionado, and when it comes to a good banger, I’ve tried quite a few. But today, I want to talk about Richmond Sausages, a staple in many a British household.
First off, the packaging is quite straightforward, which I appreciate. It’s clear, it’s clean, and it tells you exactly what you’re getting. No fuss, no muss. The sausages themselves look the part – always plump, well-formed, and with that classic porky hue that promises a good meal.
Whether I’m grilling, frying, or popping them in the oven, Richmond Sausages always cook up nicely. I particularly enjoy them in the air fryer – they come out with a crisp exterior while retaining moisture inside, which is a bit of a magic trick if you ask me.
Now, onto the taste. These sausages have a robust flavour that’s unmistakably pork, with just the right amount of seasoning. They’re not overly spiced, which means they pair well with anything from a full English breakfast to a simple sausage sandwich. The texture is spot on – not too crumbly, not too dense, just a nice, satisfying bite.
One of the things I love most about Richmond Sausages is their price and versatility. They’re brilliant for a quick and cheap midweek meal. We love these with mash and butter :) . Also let’s not forget about the breakfast bap – there’s something about a Richmond sausage that just makes me smile with a bit of tomato ketchup.
With containing only 42% pork and bulked out with wheat and fat, I must mention, for those watching their diet, Richmond’s ain’t the healthiest option. You know you’re getting a hearty, if not the healthiest, treat.
In conclusion, Richmond Sausages have a place in my fridge from time to time, they are certainly not the fanciest or the most artisanal sausages out there, but for a cheap meal every now and then, they tick all the boxes. If you’re looking for a sausage that’s quintessentially British, with a good balance of flavour, texture and easy on the wallet, give Richmond a try. You won’t be disappointed.
