On my recent visit to Wingers in Carterton, I decided to try the Feast Bowl with garlic and parmesan sauce, and I also added two extra strippers for £2. From the moment I ordered, I could tell this wasn’t your typical fast-food takeaway experience — everything was cooked fresh to order, which immediately set the tone for a higher-quality meal.
15 minutes later my order was ready, I was greeted with a hot bowl packed full of chicken and chips, salad and crunchy slaw. The chicken was outstanding — easily some of the best I’ve ever had from a takeaway. Each piece was freshly cooked, perfectly golden, and coated in the garlic and parmesan sauce, which added a rich, savoury flavour without being overpowering. The texture was spot-on: crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with none of the dryness you sometimes get from fried chicken takeaways.
The chips were also great — hot, crisp, and seasoned just right. They paired perfectly with the chicken and sauce, making every bite satisfying. The portion size was extremely generous, and despite my best efforts, I couldn’t finish it all. That’s not a complaint though — it’s rare these days to get a takeaway that actually gives you more than enough food for the price.
At £11 total, including the extra chicken, I thought the meal offered ok value for money. It’s not the cheapest takeaway in town, but the freshness, quality, and portion size more than justified the price. The meal was hearty, delicious, and genuinely filling — I didn’t need to eat anything else for the rest of the evening.
The only minor downside is that because everything is cooked fresh, you might have to wait a little longer than you would at other places. But honestly, the wait is absolutely worth it for the quality you get. I’d rather wait an extra few minutes for food that tastes freshly made than get something quick but mediocre.
Chicken cooked fresh to order
Juicy, tender chicken with excellent flavour
Delicious garlic and parmesan sauce
Generous portion sizes
Friendly service and freshly made chips
Slightly longer wait time due to fresh preparation
